MLV COMPETITION
The MLV Award, was initiated by Kumari A. Kanyakumari last year, with the motive of encouraging the local talents’ awareness in carnatic music.
The competition will assess participants’ general knowledge of ragam and raga identification.
Participants will be required to identify a raga as sung by a guest judge, and then proceed to repeat phrases of this raga.
In gauging the child’s ability, judges may ask varied questions relating to the raga e.g. items (krithis, varnams etc.) learnt, differences and resemblances between similar ragas etc.
Please note that questions will be asked at the judge’s discretion and there set questions as such.
The competition will be open to those who partake in the SFAS vocal competitions (all divisions).
The competition will take place on Friday 6th June 2008. The venue and time will be advised to registered participants in due course.
